Applied research that benefits people

People need health, security, energy, communication, the environment and mobility. These are the main challenges that occupy everyone’s attention today. And it is on these six thematic fields that we focus our research capacities.

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is the largest organization for applied research in Europe, with a staff of 24,500 people in more than 80 research centers, including 69 Fraunhofer Institutes in Germany. We undertake applied research of direct utility to private and public enterprise and of wide benefit to society. For more than 40 years, Brazil and Germany have been partners in science and research. This is reflected in the fact that about one third of all Fraunhofer Institutes are already active in Brazil.
