workshop on Agro 4.0 - Digitization in the Field

In partnership with the AHK Brazil, Fraunhofer LO promotes a workshop to discuss digitization in the rural areas. /

Agribusiness has increasingly become one of the most important segments of industry in Brazil. It accounts for 33% of the GDP and 42% of the total exports, and generates around 37% of all jobs nationwide. In the industrial environment, the trend towards digitalization is drastically transforming Brazilian companies, and with agribusiness it is no different. This happens through the automation and use of new technologies in agriculture, which is also called Agro 4.0.

In order to present new technologies and solutions in terms of digitalization in agriculture that are available in Brazil and Germany, the Fraunhofer Liaison Office Brazil, in partnership with the Innovation section of the Brazil-Germany Chamber, will promote the workshop "Agro 4.0 - Digitalization in the Field" on 13 August at 5:30 p.m.

For this purpose, we have invited specialists from the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft; Brazilian science, environment, and technology institutions; representatives of industry and various associations, as well as from startups, government, and funding institutions. The idea is to contextualize the digitalization scenario in the field, presenting not only existing technologies, but the comprehensive tendency of this area, as well as fostering the technological exchange between Brazilian and German institutions. This workshop will also present the development opportunities available for research and development.

In the panels"Trends and Technologies" and "Monitoring and Automation in the Field", we expect the participation of Dr.-Ing. Pablo Oliveira Antonino, Head of the Department of Embedded Software Engineering, of the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering IESE, Kaiserslautern, Germany. Among the technologies that will be presented, Dr. Antonino will highlight the technologies developed by Fraunhofer IESE for automation and modernization of resources for the organization of activities in the field; autonomous driving of tractors and harvesters; as well as technologies for improving the user experience thanks to the availability of agronomic data. As examples, concepts and developments of applications for mobile devices and smart watches will be presented, among others.

The event is free and will be held on the premises of the Brazil-Germany Chamber (Rua Verbo Divino, 1488 - 3rd floor - Chácara Santo Antônio - São Paulo SP).
